Our “The future of …” series continues with Google Plus , Google’s current social media attempt  that came out in the summer,. Google has killed of “Google Buzz” their last  attempt  at social networking.   Back when it first began , Google plus first began it was invite-only and the buzz about it was high. It was called “The Facebook Killer” and other impressive  names. Then… it died out  in the chats about it.  Google has been slowly intergrating aspects of Google Plus into other Google  objects.  Google Plus’ design was brought to other google apps.  But the popularity of the site has gone down, even after  it made open to all to sign up.

Users have began to drop of the network, many have gone back to using Facebook more. It would be wrong to say that Google Plus is going  to fail.  Being new is not the advantage , if Google develops it more and stays the course . it could grow in a couple years. Myspace was first and well established when Facebook launched , and it took a few years for it to explode like it is now, it took Google  a few years to over take Yahoo. Google has a good product here it just needs to grow and people need to get used to it.

Google Plus is taking things at a nice pace as of now  and just needs to make sure they don’t change what is liked about it. They need to make themselves seem more  user friendly and also offer some different features opposite Facebook.   I say the future of Google Plus can be good as long as scandal doesn’t problem it like what happened with Google Buzz.

Problems that persist is , can it be different than Facebook?  Can it attract people who are so far stretched with e-mails, twitter, facebook and other accounts to have another account that could just be repeating itself. Unless Google + does to Facebook , as Facebook did to MySpace it could be  hard road for Google to meet.  Not to say it can’t it’s just  harder for them, and it will take a while , if done right.  Google  has attracted people who are tried of Facebook’s incessant  changes or people who want to control how they share their posts.

Google plus needs to expand those brand pages (like facebook like pages)  more businesses could then use google plus , as they used facebook. They need to drop the real name policy , some people don’t want their whole names shared online and that does make them not want to join the service.

Google Plus , I say has a good future ahead of it that it can be developed   into something amazing , with a little work on their part and our part as well.
